Bob,

1) Our crossmatched opinion does count for something. Difficult cases can be
discussed on the mailing list.
2) As to impossible-to-figure-out cases, it is usefull to document the
conditions that must be avoided in order to not end up in this realm, thumbnails
should not be included for these (rare) cases, should not be usefull anyhow
3) I'm not talking about *all* tiff images, that's a collection that is probably
larger then the number of atoms in the universe. I am talking about
systematically wading through all bits and pieces that set different files
apart, and building a few images for all of these, plus an extra few for any of
these that interferes substantially with others.
4) I believe under those set out goals, the project is feasable, even if not
very easy. But then again, usefull projects rarely are very easy.
5) I'm willing to do it.
