I tested some functions with the libtiff version 3.8.2 on a Windows PC. Things works fine there.

The same functions on a Motorola PowerPC (big endian) experience problems. The header and/or image description are not ok. The rest of the data is ok if compared to the PC output file.

For example when using "tiff2bw" with a TIFF file written as little endian (49 49 2A 00 ...) the result on the PC is still with the same header and the file is readable as TIFF. Here the PC output data: 49 49 2A 00 38 2A 00 00 56 5B 5B 59...

In the PowerPC output data the header is for big endian and data are initially swapped as follows:

4D 4D 00 2A 00 00 2A 38 56 5B 5B 59...

Some other problems with "tiff2pdf": on the big endian system the output file misses some image description data. The rest is ok.

How to use libtiff with big endian systems?
